Sibsagar University Vacancy Details 2026

There are three vacancies in all, one for each post, and every one of them is Unreserved. These are senior administrative jobs in Sivasagar rather than teaching posts, so the eligibility leans on years of service in university administration as much as on the degree itself.

Sibsagar University Eligibility Criteria 2026

All qualifications follow UGC guidelines. Every post needs a Master's degree with at least 55% marks, or an equivalent grade on a point scale where a grading system is used — beyond that, the experience requirement is what separates the three.

Controller of Examinations

A Master's degree with at least 55% marks, plus one of the following:

• At least 15 years of experience as Assistant Professor in Academic Level 11 and above, or 8 years of service in Academic Level 12 and above including as Professor or Associate Professor, along with experience in educational administration at the time of application; or
• Comparable experience in a research establishment or other institution of higher education; or
• 15 years of administrative experience, of which 8 years shall be as Deputy Controller of Examinations or in an equivalent post in a university.

Desirable: conducting or assisting university, college or institution examinations and allied work at executive level, with a record justifying the entrusting of confidential work, and a working knowledge of computers and software.

Deputy Registrar

A Master's degree with at least 55% marks, plus one of the following:

• 9 years of experience as Assistant Professor in Academic Level 10 and above with experience in educational administration; or
• Comparable experience in a research establishment or other institution of higher education; or
• 5 years of administrative experience as Assistant Registrar or in an equivalent post.

Desirable: working knowledge of computers and software, and experience in establishment, academic or financial administration in a university or research organisation.

Deputy Controller of Examinations

A Master's degree in any subject with at least 55% marks, plus one of the following:

• 9 years of experience as Assistant Professor in Academic Level 10 and above with experience in educational administration at the time of application; or
• Comparable experience in a research establishment or other institution of higher education; or
• 5 years of administrative experience as Assistant Registrar or in an equivalent post.

Desirable: the same examination and confidential-work record as the Controller post, along with a working knowledge of computers and software.

Sibsagar University Age Limit 2026

The maximum age is 55 years as on 1 January 2026 for all three posts. The notification states no minimum age and lists no age relaxation for any category. That cut-off is a fixed date rather than the last date to apply, so work out where you stand on 1 January 2026 with the age calculator before you pay for the draft — the application form itself asks you to enter your age as on 01/01/2026, and getting it wrong on a typed form you cannot edit later is an avoidable way to lose Rs 2,000.

Sibsagar University Salary 2026

The salary depends on which post you apply for. The Controller of Examinations draws Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,18,200 at Academic Level 14 and is appointed on a full term basis. The Deputy Registrar and the Deputy Controller of Examinations each draw a salary of Rs 78,800 to Rs 2,11,500 at Academic Level 12, appointed for five years or until the date of superannuation, whichever comes first.

All terms and conditions follow the Act, Statutes, Ordinances and Rules and Regulations of Sibsagar University together with the UGC guidelines applicable to state universities of the Government of Assam. Whichever post you take, the appointment stays purely temporary until it is confirmed after a minimum one-year probation, and that probation may be extended if the competent authority decides so.

The fee is paid by demand draft drawn in favour of Sibsagar University General Fund, payable at Sivasagar. It is non-refundable, and the draft has to travel inside the envelope with the application — there is no online payment option anywhere in this recruitment.

Sibsagar University Selection Process 2026

Every application, regardless of category, is scrutinised by a Screening Committee. Meeting the minimum eligibility does not entitle anyone to an interview call: the committee's decision on shortlisting is final and binding, and the university may reject any or all applications at any stage of the process.

Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview. No TA or DA is paid for attending the interview or any written test, which is worth budgeting for if you are travelling to Sivasagar from outside Upper Assam. Canvassing in any form leads to disqualification, and impersonation is dealt with under the law.

A selected candidate must be medically fit, physically and mentally, and has to produce a certificate signed by the Joint Director of Health Services of the district concerned or a Government Medical Officer before joining. The university may also appoint its own doctor to check the credentials.

Documents Required

Applications must be typed — handwritten applications are not accepted, except for the signature. Send four sets of hard copies with the following:

• The filled-in typed application form in the prescribed format, signed by the candidate
• The demand draft for the application fee
• Self-attested copies of all certificates, documents and testimonials supporting age, educational and other qualifications, and experience
• A No Objection Certificate from the appointing authority, for in-service candidates
• A good conduct certificate from the head of the institution last attended or served, if you are not already a university employee

Incomplete applications are summarily rejected, so check the set against this list before you seal the envelope. The form also asks for separate sheets covering publications, conferences, research projects and research supervision, so give yourself a few days to assemble those rather than a few hours.
