Reservation of Posts

The notice gives reservation for each faculty as a whole, not for each discipline. "RFW" is the number within that category reserved for women.

The full terms, due on 5 October, should say which discipline each reserved post falls in. Check that before you pay the fee.

AAU Assistant Professor Eligibility

For most disciplines you need all four of these:

1. A bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Community Science or Veterinary Science, as relevant to the post. For Sericulture, a bachelor's in Sericulture or Agriculture.
2. At least 55% marks at master's level in the relevant discipline, or a grade average of 3.00 on a 4-point scale or 7.00 on a 10-point scale.
3. NET. You don't need NET in a discipline where NET isn't held, or for Agricultural Engineering. A PhD earned under the UGC 2009 course-credit regulations also exempts you, if you have at least two full-length papers in journals with a NAAS rating of 5 or more by the last date.
4. An Academic Performance Indicator score of at least 44 out of 80 (40 for SC and ST) to be called for interview.

Some disciplines take different bachelor's and master's degrees:

• Agro-meteorology: a BSc with Physics or Meteorology, or a degree in Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Community Science, Fisheries or Forestry, plus a master's in Meteorology or Agricultural Meteorology.
• Agricultural Statistics: a BSc with Statistics, or one of the same agricultural degrees, plus a master's in Statistics or Agricultural Statistics.
• Agricultural Business Management: an agricultural or agricultural engineering degree plus an MBA with 55%. Alternatively, an MBA or PGDM from an institute such as an IIM plus two years of work in a reputed organisation.
• Computer Science: a bachelor's in Computer Application, IT, Engineering or Science with Computer Science, plus a master's in Computer Application, IT, ICT, Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communication or Computer Science.
• Food Science & Technology: a science degree plus a master's in Food Technology, Food Science, Food Engineering, Dairy Technology, Post Harvest Technology or Agricultural Process Engineering.

The notice says only permanent residents of Assam should apply, under the university's service rules. If you don't have a Permanent Residence Certificate yet, apply for one now. In-service candidates need a No Objection Certificate from their employer.

AAU Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The upper age limit is 38 years on 4 November 2026. If you are in permanent service with AAU, ICAR, CSIR, DST, a state agricultural university or another government institution, you get one year of relaxation for each full year of service, up to five years. Relaxation for reserved categories follows Government of Assam norms; the notice doesn't spell out the years. Check your exact age with our age calculator. Salary and Application Fee

Pay is ₹57,700 to ₹1,82,400 a month at Level 10 of the 7th Pay Commission matrix. The application fee is ₹1,000 for General and OBC candidates and ₹500 for SC, ST and PwD candidates. It is paid online only, and it isn't refunded.

How to Apply for AAU Recruitment 2026

1. From 4:00 pm on 5 October 2026, open the AAU Job Openings page and read the full advertisement with the post-wise terms.
2. Use the online application link Assam Agricultural University puts up there. The notice says applications are accepted online only, in the prescribed format.
3. Upload your certificates, mark sheets and, if you claim the NET exemption, your PhD details and NAAS-rated publications. Shrink large scans with our PDF compressor.
4. Pay the fee online and submit before 4:00 pm on 4 November 2026. That is a 4 pm cut-off, not midnight.
