Anyone living in West Karbi Anglong who has passed Class 10 and was at least 18 on 12 October 2026 can apply to be one of 20 Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) with the District Legal Services Authority in Hamren. The application is on paper, and it has to reach the DLSA office by 5:00 PM on 30 November 2026, not midnight. You can hand it in or send it by post.
DLSA West Karbi Anglong: 20 Para Legal Volunteers, Class 10 Pass
The age date matters because the form asks for your age “as on 12.10.2026”, the day the advertisement was issued. That means you must have been born on or before 12 October 2008. When we checked westkarbianglong.dcourts.gov.in on 24 October 2026, the advertisement was listed under the Circular Notices tab on the home page, with the one-page form as its last page. More openings are on our latest jobs page.
Who the DLSA Wants as Volunteers
You must be an Indian citizen, a resident of West Karbi Anglong district, Class 10 pass and at least 18. Beyond that, the notice asks for people who want to help the poor and the marginalised, and lists the groups it will draw from:
- Teachers, including retired teachers
- Retired government servants and senior citizens
- MSW students and teachers
- Anganwadi workers
- Doctors
- Students, including law students until they enrol as lawyers
- Members of non-political, service-minded NGOs and clubs
- Members of women’s groups and self-help groups
- Educated prisoners with good behaviour serving long sentences
- Anyone else the DLSA thinks fit
That last line leaves the door open. If you’ve passed Class 10 and live in the district, you can apply even if you fit none of the named groups. Proof of residence isn’t listed among the documents, but keep it ready for the interview. Our PRC guide explains the certificate most offices accept.
An Honorarium, Not a Salary
The notice says PLV work carries no salary, remuneration or wage, only an honorarium fixed by the DLSA from time to time. It doesn’t state the amount. Treat this as part-time community work, not a job you can live on.
What Goes in the Envelope
- The application form from page 4 of the advertisement, filled in block letters and signed
- Two recent passport-size photos: sign across one and paste it on the form, staple the other to the top
- Self-attested copies of your Class 10 or higher certificate, age proof and caste certificate
- Your phone number (WhatsApp if you have it) and email ID, written on the form
A form without a photo or signature is rejected outright. If you need a caste certificate, our caste certificate guide covers the steps, though it may take longer than the five weeks left.
Address it to the Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, West Karbi Anglong, Judicial Courts and Offices compound, Sai-Ali, Hamren 782486. If you post it, the DLSA isn’t responsible for delays, so send it early or take it in yourself. The office number on the notice is 6901281649.
Shortlist, Interview, and No Call Letters
Forms are scrutinised, shortlisted candidates are interviewed, and the shortlist, interview date and any other news go up only on westkarbianglong.dcourts.gov.in. No call letters are sent, so check the site yourself after 30 November. There is no travel allowance for the interview, and canvassing disqualifies you.
