Mechanical engineers with 65% in a four-year BE or B.Tech need no work experience for 14 of the 32 executive posts Oil India advertised on 15 October, and the online form shuts at 11 in the morning on 14 November 2026. Age is counted on that same day, so a general-category applicant must be born on or after 15 November 1998 to be within the 27-year limit.
Oil India Executive 2026: 14 Mechanical Posts at ₹60,000 Basic
Most of the jobs are at OIL’s field headquarters in Duliajan. The other 18 posts go to PhD scientists, petroleum engineers, chartered or cost accountants, Hindi officers and one confidential secretary.
32 Posts Across Grades A, B and C
| Post (code) | Posts | Grade and basic pay | Upper age, general |
|---|---|---|---|
| Superintending Research Scientist (CH-01) | 5 (UR 3, OBC 1, SC 1) | C, ₹80,000 to ₹2,20,000 | 37 |
| Senior Officer, Mechanical (ME-02) | 14 (UR 7, OBC 3, SC 2, ST 1, EWS 1) | B, ₹60,000 to ₹1,80,000 | 27 |
| Senior Officer, Petroleum (PE-03) | 4 (UR 3, OBC 1) | B, ₹60,000 to ₹1,80,000 | 29 |
| Senior Accounts Officer or Senior Internal Auditor (AC-04) | 6 (UR 4, OBC 1, SC 1) | B, ₹60,000 to ₹1,80,000 | 29 |
| Hindi Officer, Official Language (HO-05) | 2 (UR 1, OBC 1) | A, ₹50,000 to ₹1,60,000 | 29 |
| Confidential Secretary (CS-06) | 1 (PwBD backlog) | A, ₹50,000 to ₹1,60,000 | 37 |
OBC here means OBC (non-creamy layer). The upper ages in the notice already include the category relaxation. OBC applicants get 3 more years and SC and ST applicants 5 more, so the Mechanical limit is 30 for OBC and 32 for SC and ST. Ex-servicemen get 5 years, PwBD applicants get the government relaxation, and a PhD in the relevant subject adds 3 years for the Grade A and B posts. Nobody can be over 54 after every relaxation is added. OIL says the number of posts may change.
Who Can Apply for the 14 Mechanical Posts
You need a four-year BE or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with at least 65%. Degrees in Automation, Automobile, Industrial, Power, Manufacturing, Production, Mechatronics, Mining, Marine or Robotics Engineering are excluded by name, and OIL accepts no other wording of the degree. If your marksheet shows a CGPA, convert it by your university’s own rule. OIL won’t round it up, so 64.9% is out.
The degree must be in hand by 14 November. A provisional certificate with every semester’s marksheet is accepted. For the age limit, by our count:
- General and EWS: born on or after 15 November 1998
- OBC (non-creamy layer): born on or after 15 November 1995
- SC and ST: born on or after 15 November 1993
If your birthday falls close to one of these, the age calculator will settle it. Selected Mechanical and Petroleum officers sign a bond to serve at least three years. The notice doesn’t say what breaking it costs.
What the Other 18 Posts Ask For
- Superintending Research Scientist: a PhD in Chemistry, Geology, Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering, a two-year master’s in the same field with 60%, and four years of relevant work after the qualifying degree.
- Senior Officer (Petroleum): a two-year master’s in Petroleum Engineering or Technology with 60%, and an engineering degree at graduation. No experience asked.
- Senior Accounts Officer or Senior Internal Auditor: associate membership of ICAI or ICMAI. Without the membership certificate you can’t apply. No experience asked and no bond.
- Hindi Officer: a postgraduate degree in Hindi and three years of official language, translation or Rajbhasha work.
- Confidential Secretary: a graduate with a one- or two-year diploma in secretarial practice or office management, computer skills, and two years of secretarial work. The one post is reserved for a PwBD candidate.
Experience counts only if it was full-time and came after the qualifying degree. Internships, apprenticeships, part-time, guest and consultancy work don’t count, and nor does teaching at school or undergraduate level. Private-sector experience counts only at a company with a turnover of ₹500 crore or more a year. You’ll need an experience letter, a separate employer document listing your duties, and two more proofs such as pay slips or a PF statement. If you already work for the government or a PSU, you need two years in the pay scale one level below the post.
About ₹1.2 Lakh a Month for a Grade B Officer
OIL puts gross monthly pay at the bottom of each scale at about ₹1,50,000 in Grade C, ₹1,20,000 in Grade B and ₹90,000 in Grade A. Besides basic pay and industrial DA there’s HRA or company housing, free medical care for you and your dependents, PF, gratuity and group insurance. Everyone serves a year on probation.
The vacancies are mainly at the Field Headquarters in Duliajan, Dibrugarh district, but OIL can post you to any of its locations.
A 90-Minute Test, Likely on 28 December
The computer-based test carries 100 marks. Section I (40 marks) covers English, reasoning and numerical aptitude. Section II (60 marks) is your own subject, with a post-by-post syllabus in a separate PDF. You need 50 to qualify if you’re general, OBC or EWS, and 40 if you’re SC, ST or PwBD. The date is tentative and the notice names no test centres.
For the Grade B and C posts, five candidates per vacancy go to a 15-mark interview, and your final score is 85% of your test mark plus the interview mark. For the Hindi Officer and Confidential Secretary posts, two per vacancy take a skill test (translation, essay and bilingual typing, or shorthand) that you only have to pass. The ranking there is the test mark alone.
OIL pays nothing towards travel for the test. Those called for interview get economy airfare within the Northeast and up to Kolkata, or AC two-tier train fare from farther away.
Applying Before 11 AM on 14 November
The fee is ₹500 plus tax for general and OBC applicants. SC, ST, PwBD, EWS and ex-servicemen applicants pay nothing. You pay through SBI e-Pay Lite at the end of the form.
- Register on the OIL application portal (linked below). One OTP goes to your mobile and another to your email, and you need both.
- Log in with the user ID and password sent to you, fill in your details, qualifications and experience, and upload a photo and signature.
- Preview, submit, then pay. Print the submitted form and keep it.
The photo must be 100 to 200 KB, 3.5 cm wide by 4.5 cm high, on a white background, and the signature 80 to 150 KB, both as JPG. A phone photo is often too large or the wrong shape, and the image resizer can fix both. Your name, date of birth, mobile number and email can’t be changed after registration.
When I opened the portal on 21 October, its key dates box said the form opened at 2 PM on 15 October, while the advertisement says 4 PM. That no longer matters, and both agree it closes at 11 AM on 14 November. The helpdesk is on 9513253397, Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 5 PM.
