Central Silk Board Sericulture Assistant 2026: 13 Posts in Assam

The terms match. You get ₹21,000 a month plus HRA on a one-year contract, the upper age is 35, and the only selection round is an interview. You apply for both on csb-hiring.in.

The other ten posts are outside the state: five in Meghalaya (Nongpoh, Tura, Rampora and Mendipathar), one each at Kobulong in Nagaland and in Aizawl, two at Hosur in Tamil Nadu and one at Ahmedabad.

Five seats at one Jorhat campus is the best chance in either list. If you want to work in Upper Assam, apply to CMERTI and don’t wait for the later MESSO date.

Both notices let you name three preferred places, but CSB decides the posting on merit and vacancies. They also say candidates are “preferably expected to be well-versed in the local language of the concerned region”. It isn’t a requirement. For the Assam units it still favours someone who speaks Assamese.

A Sericulture, Agriculture or Biology Degree

Any one of these is enough:

• A three- or four-year full-time degree in Sericulture
• A three-year degree plus a PG Diploma in Sericulture
• A four-year full-time bachelor’s in Agricultural Sciences or Forestry
• A three-year B.Sc. in Zoology, Botany, Biology or Biotechnology, plus a PG Diploma in Sericulture or one year of work on a sericulture project

So a plain B.Sc. in Zoology or Botany does not qualify by itself. It needs the PG diploma or the year of project work on top. If you are using the project-work route, upload the experience certificate, because both notices ask for proof of any experience you claim. Experience in silkworm rearing and grainage counts as desirable.

The degree must be complete by the cut-off date, so a final-year student whose result comes out later cannot apply.

Age 35, Counted on Two Different Days

The upper limit is 35 in both notices, but each one counts it on a different date. CMERTI uses 26 October 2026, so you qualify if you were born on or after 27 October 1990. MESSO uses 6 November 2026, a week after its own last date, so you need to be born on or after 7 November 1990.

If you were born between 27 October and 6 November 1990, you are 35 on the CMERTI date and 36 on the MESSO one. Only the Jorhat and Boko posts are open to you. The age calculator gives your exact age on either date.

Neither notice mentions age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC or PwD candidates. The portal’s date-of-birth field says you must be between 18 and 35.

₹21,000 Plus HRA for One Year

The pay is a consolidated ₹21,000 a month plus HRA. Neither notice says how much the HRA is. The contract runs for up to one year and gives no claim to a regular or permanent job in CSB. Selected assistants are not attached to one project. They help the Senior Technical Assistants at whichever unit they are posted to.

Neither notice mentions an application fee.

Applying on csb-hiring.in

You log in with your 10-digit mobile number and an OTP, then register with your name, email and date of birth. Before you start, the portal lists the scans to keep ready: a recent passport photo, Aadhaar, PAN, Class 10, Class 12 and degree certificates, and any experience or training certificates. Each file must be PDF, JPG or PNG and no larger than 2 MB. A multi-page scan of certificates often goes over that, and the PDF compressor brings it down. For a photo taken on a phone, use resize image.

I opened the portal on 12 October and stopped at the OTP step. The document list asks for a PAN card, which neither notice mentions, so scan yours before you begin. I couldn’t see whether one form covers both notices. If you want a Jorhat post and a MESSO unit, check that on the form before you submit.

Both notices are also on csb.gov.in, but that site’s security certificate expired on 11 October, so your browser may warn you before the PDF opens. The copies on cmerti.res.in and messo.org.in open without the warning.

The MESSO notice gives mssoguw.csb@nic.in as its helpline. The CMERTI notice gives a personal Gmail address instead. That address is printed in the official PDF, so it is genuine, if unusual.

One Interview, Date Sent by Email

There is no written test. CSB will email the interview date, time and venue to eligible candidates only, so use an email address you check daily. Ineligible applicants won’t hear anything. Bring your original certificates and an ID proof, and travel at your own cost, because no TA or DA is paid.
