ITBP Sports Quota Recruitment 2026: 126 Constable GD, Apply by 1 Nov

By AssamJobDesk TeamPublished on

ITBP Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 is open for 126 posts of Constable (General Duty) in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force, and it is only for sportspersons who have won a medal, finished in the top three, or taken part in a recognised international event between 1 January 2024 and 1 November 2026. Applications run online from 3 October to 11:59 pm on 1 November 2026. If you compete at national level or above and have passed Class 10, this is for you. If you have no qualifying sports certificate from that window, it is not, and our latest government job notices list other central and Assam recruitment.

One oddity first. The advertisement calls this "Sports Quota-2025", but it was issued on 18 September 2026 (Directorate L/No. 4086, published in Employment News) and the whole application window falls in 2026. It is the current recruitment, not an old one. A corrigendum signed on 1 October 2026 has already changed the weightlifting seats, and the figures below include that change.

ITBP Sports Quota Vacancy 2026: 126 Posts by Discipline

The 126 posts are spread across 28 sports. After the corrigendum, 70 are for men and 56 for women. ITBP calls these numbers tentative: they can rise or fall, and seats left unfilled in one discipline can be moved to another.

The weightlifting change moved the 53 kg and 69 kg seats from men to women. The notice also splits each sport by event or weight class, such as boxing by weight and shooting by pistol and rifle event. Check your exact event in the official notification before you apply, because your medal only helps in an event that has a seat.

ITBP Constable GD Salary and Allowances

The post is Constable (GD), Group C, non-gazetted, at Level 3 of the 7th CPC pay matrix: Rs 21,700 to Rs 69,100 a month. On top of basic pay you get dearness allowance, ration money, washing allowance, free uniform, free accommodation or HRA, transport allowance, free leave pass and free medical care, plus a special compensatory allowance in notified border areas. Pension is the contributory scheme that covers central staff who joined after 1 January 2004. The job is temporary but likely to become permanent, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police can post you anywhere in India or abroad.

ITBP Constable GD Eligibility and Qualification

  • Nationality: Indian citizen. Subjects of Nepal and Bhutan can also apply.
  • Qualification: Matriculation (Class 10) or equivalent from a recognised board. A certificate from a board other than a central or state board needs a government notice declaring it equivalent.
  • Sports record: between 1 January 2024 and 1 November 2026, either participation or a medal in an international event cleared by the Sports Ministry, or a medal or top-three finish at a Senior or Junior National Championship, the National Games, an Inter-University competition, the Khelo India University Games, the Khelo India Youth Games (above-18 category) or the Khelo India Winter Games.
  • Certificate uploaded first: you must upload your best sports certificate to your profile on the ITBP portal before you apply. Skip it and the application is rejected at scrutiny.

At national and university level, taking part is not enough. Only medals and places up to third count there. Participation alone earns marks only at international level.

ITBP Sports Quota Age Limit 2026

The base age limit is 18 to 23 years on 1 November 2026, the last date to apply. Meritorious sportspersons get extra years on top, by category:

CategoryRelaxationUpper age
UR / EWS5 years28
OBC (NCL)8 years31
SC / ST10 years33

Central government employees with three years of continuous service can apply up to 40 (UR, EWS, OBC) or 45 (SC, ST). Only the date of birth on your Class 10 or Higher Secondary certificate counts. Work out your age on 1 November 2026 with our age calculator rather than guessing.

To claim a category relaxation you need a certificate in the format annexed to the notice. ITBP says a certificate in any other format will not be accepted, so check yours against the annexure. If you still need one in Assam, our guide to applying for a caste certificate covers the process. An OBC non-creamy layer certificate must be issued within three years before 1 November 2026.

Height and Chest Standards for Assam Candidates

The notice names Assam among the states whose candidates get relaxed height and chest standards. Chest expansion must be at least 5 cm in every case. Women are not measured for chest.

CategoryHeight (men)Height (women)Chest unexpanded (men)
General standard170 cm157 cm80 cm
Candidates from Assam165 cm155 cm78 cm
Scheduled Tribe, North-Eastern states157 cm147.5 cm76 cm

You only get the relaxed standard if you bring the Annexure-VI certificate from your district authorities. Eyesight must be 6/6 and 6/9 without glasses. Colour blindness, knock knees, flat feet, varicose veins or a squint rule you out.

How ITBP Selects Sports Quota Constables

There is no written exam. The stages are:

  1. Documentation: a biometric identity check, then your original age, education, caste and sports certificates. Your sports marks are fixed here, and you need at least 10.
  2. Physical Standard Test: height, chest and weight.
  3. Sports Trial Test: 40 marks in your own event, with a pass mark of 20. It only qualifies you and is not added to the merit list. If you have represented India in an international event, you skip it.
  4. Merit list: ranked only on your sports achievement marks.
  5. Detailed Medical Examination, with a Review Medical Examination if you are declared unfit and consent to it within 24 hours.

Ties go to the better national record, then the younger candidate, then alphabetical order.

Sports Marks That Decide the Merit List

Only your single best medal or level of participation from 1 January 2024 to 1 November 2026 is counted.

ITBP Sports Quota Application Fee

Men in the UR, OBC and EWS categories pay Rs 100 online through the portal. Women and SC and ST candidates pay nothing. The fee is not refunded.

Before You Apply

A few points in this notice catch people out. You sign up for at least 10 years of service, and leaving earlier means repaying three months of pay or the cost of your training, whichever is higher. These posts are not open to persons with disabilities or ex-servicemen. No travel allowance is paid, and you should plan to stay more than one day at the venue. If you work for the government, bring a No Objection Certificate from your employer or you will be turned away. ITBP posts admit cards and changes only on its portal, and we add them under admit card updates. The ITBP helpline is 011-24369482 and 011-24369483.

If you are weighing more than one sports quota job, the CRPF Sports Quota recruitment for 521 posts is also open this season, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police is separately hiring Head Constables on the same portal.
