Registration for 674 one-year apprenticeships with ONGC in Assam is open until 11:59 PM on 20 November 2026, at Jorhat, at Nazira and Sivasagar, and at Silchar. They are part of 3,047 seats across India, and every district of Assam counts for all three centres, so someone from Dhubri or Karimganj can apply for Sivasagar. There’s no written test. ONGC ranks you on the marks of your qualifying exam, and the notice puts the result on 15 December.
ONGC Apprentice 2026: 674 Seats in Assam, Ranked on Marks, No Exam
Most seats need an ITI, but there are places for Class 10 and Class 12, diploma holders and graduates too. Anyone who passed on or before 29 November 2023, or has done an apprenticeship already, can skip this one.
674 Seats at Jorhat, Nazira-Sivasagar and Silchar
Nazira and Sivasagar take 466 of them. Fitter alone has 98 seats there and COPA has 52. You apply for one trade at one centre. If you apply for more than one, ONGC decides which single seat you are considered for.

Born 29 Nov 2002 to 29 Nov 2008, Passed After 29 Nov 2023
You must be 18 to 24 on 29 November 2026, which the notice writes as a date of birth between 29.11.2002 and 29.11.2008. The upper limit goes up by 5 years for SC and ST candidates, so born on or after 29 November 1997, and by 3 years for OBC non-creamy layer, so born on or after 29 November 1999. PwBD candidates get 10 years, 13 if OBC and 15 if SC or ST. Check your own date with the age calculator. The OBC relaxation needs a central non-creamy layer certificate, and our NCL certificate guide covers how Assam issues one.
These rules catch more people than the age limit does:
- Your qualifying result must be less than three years old on 29 November 2026. If it was declared on or before 29 November 2023, you can’t apply. If your marksheet doesn’t show the result date, you’ll need a certificate from your principal giving it at document verification.
- You can’t have done an apprenticeship before, or be doing one now.
- A year or more of training or job experience after your qualification rules you out of the technician (diploma) seats.
- A Wireman certificate doesn’t count for the Electrician seats.
For an Assam centre you must either live in Assam or have got your qualification from an institution in Assam. The notice doesn’t say what proof of residence ONGC will ask for. If you studied outside the state and are relying on living here, our guide on getting a PRC in Assam shows how long that takes.
₹8,200 to ₹12,300 a Month for 12 Months
| Your qualification | Stipend a month |
|---|---|
| Class 10 or Class 12 | ₹8,200 |
| One-year ITI | ₹9,600 |
| Two-year ITI | ₹10,560 |
| Three-year diploma | ₹10,900 |
| Graduate (BA, BCom, BSc, BBA, BE, BTech) | ₹12,300 |
Training runs 12 months in every trade. ONGC pays no travel, food or lodging, and the notice says the apprenticeship gives no claim to a regular ONGC job afterwards.
Ranked on Your Marks, Result Due 15 December
Once the window closes, ONGC pulls the applications from NAPS and NATS and makes a separate merit list for each trade at each centre, using your marks in the qualifying exam. If two people tie, the older one goes ahead. Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification with originals and self-attested copies. Lists go up on ONGC’s apprentice site and out by email, so keep an eye on your spam folder too. The notice gives 15 December 2026 as the result date but no date for document verification.
NAPS for ITI Trades, NATS for Engineers and Accounts
You don’t apply on ONGC’s own site. You register on the government apprenticeship portal for your trade and apply to ONGC from there.
- NATS (nats.education.gov.in): Accounts Executive, Store Keeper, Petroleum Executive, Civil Executive (Diploma) and the six engineering-degree Executive (Graduate) trades.
- NAPS (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in): every ITI trade, Library Assistant, Fire Safety Technician and the four diploma Executive (Oil and Gas) trades. Lab Chemist and Secretarial Office Assistant also go through NAPS, even though they need a degree.
ONGC’s checklist before you register: an email address and mobile number you actually use, your ITI, diploma or degree certificate, Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets, a caste certificate if you claim a category, PAN if you have one, and your Aadhaar number.
When we opened ONGC’s apprentice site on 2 November, it showed registration open on both portals from 6 PM on 29 October. Its written instructions still point to apprenticeship.gov.in and portal.mhrdnats.gov.in, and neither address loaded for us. The NAPS and NATS buttons under “Link for Registration” on the same page work, as do the links below. The two corrigenda listed on that page are from September 2023 and belong to an older drive.
Graduates who passed between 2021 and 2025 can also look at the EAMUL apprenticeship in Jorhat, which closes on 9 November. More openings are on the jobs page.
