The Class 10 Posts, and the Experience They Prefer
For the Lab Assistant, six years of laboratory or industrial experience is “preferred”. It isn’t a condition, but with one seat, expect someone who has those years to get it. The Lab Attendant notice mentions experience as preferred without naming any number of years, so that’s the realistic one for a school leaver.
Both jobs mean cleaning glassware and equipment, labelling and storing samples, handling waste and spills, and keeping the lab and pilot plant tidy. The notice says you must be fit for routine material handling.
The Plant Operator runs batch and continuous pyrolysis reactors in rotating shifts, which can mean nights. Two years’ experience is preferred, and reactor, furnace or boiler work counts in your favour.

The portal loaded without trouble when we checked on 31 October. It’s the same portal that gave us a 502 error on 30 October while we were checking another IIT Guwahati post, so finish a day early.
Selection is on the interview alone, and it happens on Google Meet. If your data is patchy, test a Meet call on your phone before the 10th and find a spot with a steady signal. No travel allowance is paid.
IIT Guwahati also has one housekeeping post that needs no schooling, open until 6 November. More openings are on the jobs page.
