Gurucharan University: 13 Assistant Professor Posts, Two Deadlines

Only five of the 13 teaching seats are open to everyone: one in Commerce and four in Physics. Seven are reserved for SC, ST or OBC/MOBC candidates, and one Statistics seat is for a person with a disability. A general candidate in Bengali, Sanskrit or Zoology has nothing to apply for this round.

All 13 are on Level 10 pay, ₹57,700 to ₹1,82,400. Gurucharan College became a state university under Assam Act No. LVII of 2023, so Assam’s reservation rules apply. Caste certificates have to be in the Assam government format. OBC and MOBC candidates must upload a non-creamy layer certificate for the current year, which our NCL certificate guide walks through. The disability quota needs 40% or more, certified by an Assam government authority.

55% in Your Master’s, Plus NET or a PhD

You need a master’s in the subject with at least 55% (or the equivalent grade), and NET from UGC or CSIR, or SLET/SET. A PhD awarded under the UGC regulations of 2009 or 2016 replaces NET.

If you registered for your PhD before 11 July 2009, the exemption has five conditions. The degree was in regular mode, two external examiners evaluated the thesis, and the viva was open. You published two papers from the work, one in a refereed journal, and presented two at conferences backed by UGC, ICSSR, CSIR or a similar body. The Registrar or Dean of your university has to certify all of this.

The notice gives no age limit for Assistant Professor. The fee is ₹1,500, or ₹750 for SC and ST candidates, and it isn’t refunded.

Controller of Examinations: 15 Years’ Experience, Upper Age 55

This post pays ₹1,44,200 to ₹2,18,200 at Academic Level 14, with a maximum age of 55 as on 1 October 2026. It needs a master’s with 55% plus one of these:

• 15 years as an Assistant Professor at Academic Level 11 or above, or 8 years at Level 12 or above, with experience in educational administration
• comparable experience in a research establishment or higher education institution
• 15 years in administration, 8 of them as Deputy Registrar or equivalent

Working knowledge of computers and networking is mandatory. The fee is ₹2,000, or ₹1,000 for SC and ST candidates.

Apply on Samarth, Then Post the Printout

1. Register on the right portal. Assistant Professor applications go to gurucharanuniversityrec.samarth.edu.in and Controller of Examinations to gurucharanuniversitynt.samarth.edu.in. Both are linked below.
2. Keep a passport photo and a signature ready as JPG, JPEG or PNG, each 100 KB or less. Compress image brings a phone photo under that.
3. Click “Save and Proceed” on every tab. Nothing can be changed after final submission.
4. Download the PDF of your form, print one copy and attach self-attested copies of everything you claimed, numbered in the same order as in the form.
5. Send it to The Registrar, Gurucharan University, College Road, Silchar-788004, Cachar, Assam, to reach by 28 November.

Experience certificates count only if the Registrar, Principal or Director signs them, with your appointment date, period of service and pay scale. One signed by a Head of Department or Dean is not considered. If you’re in service, apply through proper channel or attach a no objection certificate in the format given at the end of the notice.
