CDOE Tezpur University Admission 2026 — Autumn Semester, Apply by 30 September

By AssamJobDesk TeamPublished on

CDOE Tezpur University admission for the Autumn Semester 2026 is open. The Centre for Distance and Online Education is taking online applications for three M.A. programmes and three Diploma programmes under ODL mode, and the deadline has been extended — the last date is now 30 September 2026.

Tezpur University distance education runs through CDOE, and this is an off-campus route rather than a seat at Napaam. It is aimed at people who cannot attend regular classes: working candidates, anyone at home with family responsibilities, and graduates in districts far from a university town. All degree programmes under CDOE are approved by UGC-DEB, which is the thing to check before paying a fee to any distance provider.

Programmes on Offer

Six programmes are open for Autumn 2026 — three master's degrees and three diplomas.

ProgrammeLevel
M.A. in EnglishPostgraduate degree
M.A. in SociologyPostgraduate degree
M.A. in Mass Communication and JournalismPostgraduate degree
Diploma in Human Resource ManagementDiploma
Diploma in Child Rights and GovernanceDiploma
Diploma in Environmental and Disaster ManagementDiploma

The three M.A. programmes are the substantial qualifications here. The diplomas are shorter and more applied — Human Resource Management sits with the School of Management Sciences, Environmental and Disaster Management draws on the Department of Environmental Science and the Centre for Disaster Management, and Child Rights and Governance is the newest of the three.

Eligibility

The admission notification itself does not print a separate eligibility line for each programme. CDOE's standing requirement for its postgraduate and diploma programmes is a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university — you do not need to have studied the subject before, which is what makes M.A. Sociology or the HRM diploma realistic for a graduate from an unrelated stream.

Because the exact percentage requirement can differ by programme and is revised from session to session, check the current prospectus on the CDOE portal for the programme you want before you pay. The notification is explicit that fees, once deposited, are not refunded in any circumstance — so confirming eligibility first is not optional advice.

Candidates who have appeared or are appearing in the qualifying examination may be admitted provisionally, on condition that they have cleared all earlier examinations for the same degree with no carried-over subject, have completed all theory and practical work, and can produce proof of passing when they submit the term-end examination form.

Important Dates

EventDate
Notification issued30 June 2026
Online admission opened1 July 2026
Last date (extended)30 September 2026

The 30 September date is an extension announced on the admission portal on 1 September 2026. Several distance-education sites still carry the earlier deadline, so if you see 30 June or 31 August quoted elsewhere, the portal is the one to trust. Extensions are announced on the portal and nowhere else, so check it rather than waiting to be told.

How to Apply

  1. Go to the CDOE website and open the online admission portal.
  2. Register, then activate your registration through the link emailed to you or the OTP sent to your mobile.
  3. Sign in to reach the online application form.
  4. Fill in the form and upload your photograph along with scanned copies of your certificates, mark sheets and identity documents.
  5. Pay the application fee together with the programme fee — both are payable in full at the time of applying.
  6. Submit, and keep a copy of the filled form and the payment receipt.

Upload size limits are the usual stumbling block, and a phone photograph of a mark sheet is almost always too large. The PDF compressor will bring a certificate under the cap without making it unreadable, and the image resizer will get a passport photograph to the required dimensions.

Use an email address and mobile number you actually check. Registration is activated through them, and later correspondence goes the same way.

Fees

Programme fees vary by programme and are revised between sessions, so the figure that matters is the one on the current fee structure in the prospectus on the CDOE portal — not a number carried over from an older brochure or repeated on a third-party listing site.

Two things about the fee are firm. The application fee and the programme fee are both payable in full at the time of application, and fees once deposited are not refunded under any circumstance. Confirm your eligibility and your programme choice before you pay.

How the Programmes Run

Study is semester-based. Self-learning materials are dispatched to enrolled learners with the guidelines for each semester's courses, and learners enrol and register for courses at the start of every semester using the prescribed forms.

Counselling sessions are held at study centres — generally around April for the Spring semester and October for the Autumn semester — and attending them is not mandatory, which is the point of the ODL format for someone in a job.

Assessment splits between continuous evaluation and a semester-end examination, with the semester-end paper carrying 70% of the weight and theory examinations generally restricted to three hours. Results are made available at the study centres and on the university website.

Is this worth it?

For a graduate in Assam who wants a master's degree while working, this is one of the more credible options in the state. Tezpur University is a central university, and CDOE's degrees are UGC-DEB approved — which matters, because a distance qualification that is not carries real risk when you sit for a government recruitment or apply for further study.

Be clear-eyed about what ODL asks of you, though. There is no daily class to keep you moving, the self-learning material arrives and then it is on you, and people drop out of distance programmes far more often than campus ones. If you can hold a routine on your own, an M.A. from Tezpur University at distance-education cost is a genuinely good return.

M.A. Mass Communication and Journalism is worth a second look if you are aiming at media work, and the Environmental and Disaster Management diploma lines up with a real hiring area in Assam, where disaster management posts come up regularly. Other study and exam notices are collected under admission updates, and vacancy notices under job updates.

If you are funding this yourself, check the scholarships closing around the same time — LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026 and the OBC Post-Matric Scholarship 2026 both close on 30 September, the same day as this admission.

What is the last date for CDOE Tezpur University admission 2026?

30 September 2026. This is an extension announced on the CDOE admission portal on 1 September 2026; the admission originally opened on 1 July 2026.

Which programmes are offered for Autumn 2026?

Six: M.A. in English, M.A. in Sociology, M.A. in Mass Communication and Journalism, and Diplomas in Human Resource Management, Child Rights and Governance, and Environmental and Disaster Management.

Is there an entrance exam?

No entrance examination is mentioned in the notification. Admission is through the online application on the CDOE portal, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria for the programme.

Are these degrees recognised?

Yes. The notification states that all degree programmes under CDOE, Tezpur University are approved by UGC-DEB.

What is the eligibility for the M.A. programmes?

CDOE's standing requirement is a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. The exact percentage requirement can vary by programme and session, so check the current prospectus on the CDOE portal before applying.

Can I apply if my final result is not out yet?

Provisional admission is possible if you have passed all earlier examinations for the same degree with no carried-over subject and completed all theory and practical work. You must produce proof of passing when submitting the term-end examination form.

Is the fee refundable?

No. The admission procedure states plainly that fees once deposited will not be refunded under any circumstances, so confirm your eligibility before you pay.

Do I have to attend classes?

No. This is Open and Distance Learning. Counselling sessions are held at study centres, generally around October for the Autumn semester, but attending them is not mandatory.

Read the official admission notification, then apply through the CDOE online admission portal. Programme details and the current prospectus are on the CDOE website.

For queries, CDOE lists 03712-273087 and 03712-273088, and the email addresses cdoe@tezu.ernet.in and cdoedirector@tezu.ernet.in. The centre's address is Napaam, Sonitpur, Assam 784028.
