CTET 2026 Notification

The Central Board of Secondary Education has re-opened the online application portal for the 22nd edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. Eligible candidates who missed the original window, which opened on 11 May 2026, can submit applications during this re-opened period from 25 August 2026 to 1 September 2026.

A re-opened window is a genuine second chance and does not usually come around again. If you intended to apply in May and did not, this is the opportunity to do so.

What CTET Is For

CTET is an eligibility test, not a recruitment. Clearing it does not give you a teaching job — it makes you eligible to be considered for one. The CTET certificate is a mandatory qualification for teaching posts in Classes I to VIII in Central Government schools such as Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas, and is accepted by many state governments and private schools as well.

The test has two papers:

• Paper I — for candidates who intend to teach Classes I to V (primary stage).
• Paper II — for candidates who intend to teach Classes VI to VIII (elementary stage).

A candidate who intends to teach across both levels may sit both papers. Each is applied for separately and each carries its own fee.

CTET 2026 Application Fee

The fee starts at Rs 500 and varies according to the paper you are applying for and your category. Candidates sitting both Paper I and Paper II pay more than those sitting one, and SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay a reduced rate.

Check the fee table in the official notification for the exact amount that applies to your combination of paper and category before you reach the payment stage.

CTET 2026 How to Apply

1. Go to the CTET online application portal at ctet.nic.in.
2. Register with a valid email address and mobile number.
3. Fill in the application form, selecting Paper I, Paper II, or both according to the classes you intend to teach.
4. Upload your photograph and signature to the specifications in the notification.
5. Pay the fee online for the papers selected.
6. Submit before 1 September 2026 and keep a printed copy of the confirmation page.

If your photograph or signature exceeds the portal's size limit, use our image compressor or image resizer. For any certificate scan required, image to PDF and the PDF compressor will bring the file within limits.

CTET 2026 — What Assam Candidates Should Know

For a candidate in Assam aiming at a teaching career, CTET is worth holding whether or not you are targeting a central school. The certificate is widely recognised, and many state and private school recruitments treat it as a qualifying credential.

Decide carefully between Paper I and Paper II, or both. The papers test different things — Paper I is built around child development and pedagogy for the primary stage, Paper II around subject teaching for the elementary stage. Sitting both widens the posts you become eligible for, at the cost of a higher fee and more preparation.

Note that the eligibility conditions for appearing in each paper depend on your teacher training qualification, such as D.El.Ed or B.Ed. Read the eligibility section of the official notification against your own qualification before paying the fee.
