One point before anything else, because it decides whether the rest of this page applies to you: admission to the ANM course is restricted to female candidates only. The notice states this plainly, and it is not a detail you should discover after paying the fee.

The Assam ANM admission 2026 exam is conducted by SSUHS on behalf of the Directorate of Health Services (Family Welfare), Assam, under Assam Gazette Notification No. MER. 206054/786 dated 07-11-2023 and letter No. E-459442/2 dated 03-09-2026. The reference number on the notice is No.SSUHS/251/2024/Ex/12025, dated 08-09-2026.

ANM is a two-year training course that puts you into frontline community health work — antenatal care, immunisation, maternal and child health at the sub-centre level. For a lot of candidates in Assam it is the shortest honest route from a Higher Secondary pass into a government health posting, which is why 369 seats draw the volume they do.

The Assam ANM admission 2026 notice puts 369 seats across the eleven government ANM training schools it names. The notice gives the total and the list of schools; it does not publish a school-by-school split. The Directorate of Health Services (FW), Assam has said it will notify the distribution and reservation of seats separately, in due course.

Do not assume an even split of roughly 33 seats per school. Until the Directorate publishes the breakdown, the only number confirmed is the total. Assam ANM admission eligibility criteria

The eligibility criteria for Assam ANM admission 2026 come straight from the official notice, and every one of them is checked at counselling rather than at the form stage:

• You must be a citizen of India.
• You must be a permanent resident of Assam, and you must produce a certificate proving it.
• You must have passed 12 years of schooling (H.S. / 10+2) recognised by CBSE, ICSE, SSSCE or HSCE, or a recognised equivalent examination.
• Admission is restricted to female candidates.
• Admission is subject to a satisfactory medical examination report.

ANM admission age limit and relaxation

The minimum age is 17 years, counted on or before 31 December of the year in which admission is sought. The maximum age is 35 years.

There is one relaxation, and it is specific: for Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers and trained dais seeking admission to Government Multipurpose Health Worker Training Schools or ANM schools, the upper limit is relaxed from 35 to 42 years. No other category relaxation appears in the notice.

ANM entrance exam application fee

The entrance examination fee is non-refundable and must be paid only in online mode, through the payment gateway on the university website. Candidates in the PwD (Divyang) category with 40% disability or above are exempted from the fee.

The notice does not print the fee amount. It will be shown on the payment screen when the online form opens — treat any specific figure you see quoted elsewhere as unconfirmed until it appears on the SSUHS gateway itself.

Assam ANM entrance exam pattern 2026

The ANM entrance exam 2026 is one paper of ninety minutes and one hundred marks, with no negative marking. Questions are set at Class 10 standard, not Class 12 — worth knowing before you plan your revision.

Each question carries 2 marks. There is no negative marking for a wrong answer, and unanswered questions score zero — so there is no reason to leave a blank. Questions are set in both English and Assamese, but the OMR sheet must be filled in English only. The exam runs from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

ANM entrance exam centres in Assam

The entrance examination will be held at five centres: Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Tezpur and Dhubri. Pick the one you can reach on a Sunday morning without an overnight journey if you can help it.

How the ANM merit list is prepared

The merit list is prepared on total marks in the entrance examination. Ties are broken in a fixed order of preference:

1. Higher marks in English in the entrance exam.
2. Then higher marks in General Science.
3. Then higher marks in Mathematics.
4. If marks still tally, marks in English in the qualifying examination are considered at counselling.

English breaks the first tie and can break the last one too. If you are budgeting revision time across three subjects, that is a real argument for giving English the largest share.

Assam ANM admission selection process

Every applicant is allowed to sit the examination provisionally. Eligibility is scrutinised by the competent authority at counselling, after the result is declared — so clearing the exam is not the same as securing admission. Only genuinely eligible candidates should apply.

1. Entrance examination on 11 October 2026.
2. Declaration of result and preparation of the merit list.
3. Counselling, where documents, eligibility and reservation are verified.
4. Medical examination.

If any information you give is found to be false or incomplete, or any ineligibility is detected at any later stage, you are disqualified from the entrance examination with all associated consequences.

How to apply online for Assam ANM admission 2026

To apply online for Assam ANM admission 2026, use the application form on the SSUHS website, www.ssuhs.ac.in, available from 15 September 2026 to 27 September 2026. Follow these steps:

1. Open the SSUHS website and find the ANM Entrance Examination 2026 application link.
2. Read the instructions supplied with the form before you start filling it.
3. Complete the online application form.
4. Pay the examination fee online through the payment gateway, unless you are exempt as a PwD candidate with 40% disability or above.
5. Write down your Application Form Number and Password and keep them safe.

Since the form is submitted online, you do not need to post any documents to the university. All verification of documents, eligibility and reservation happens at counselling.

The notice is unusually blunt about one thing, so we will be too: if you lose or forget your Application Form Number and Password, you will not be able to download your admit card. Save them somewhere you will still have in October — not only in a browser that might be cleared.

Reservation of ANM seats

Reservation of seats for the ANM training course in government institutes follows Government of Assam norms. The distribution and reservation of seats, including admission, will be notified by the Directorate of Health Services (FW), Assam in due course — it is not part of this notice.
