RNU Doordarshan Guwahati Recruitment 2026 — Casual Assignees, Rs 2,400 a Day

Only candidates of Indian origin residing in Assam may apply. There is no application fee. Payment is per day per shift, from Rs 1,125 to Rs 2,400 depending on the category and your experience.

Read one thing before you go further: this is casual empanelment, not a job. The notice says plainly that it does not constitute a regular post, that empanelled candidates have no claim to permanent employment, and that you may be given at most 7 assignments a month.

Categories, Age and Payment

The notice does not state how many people it will empanel in any category. Age and payment are set separately for each one.

How news reader payment is worked out

The news reader rate is the only one that varies with the shift and your experience.

Eligibility

Each category sets its own essential qualification. Meeting one does not make you eligible for another, and an application without the enclosures to prove it is rejected outright.

Casual News Reader / News Anchor (Assamese & English)

Essential: a degree from a recognised university; proficiency in the language concerned; a camera-friendly face and a voice of very good quality suited to broadcasting; correct pronunciation, accent and modulation; knowledge of current regional, Indian and foreign affairs; and acquaintance with the names of important personalities in the region, India and abroad.

Preferable: a journalism background, a professional background in academic or related areas, and experience in television or radio media.

Desirable: knowledge of English and Hindi, the ability to interview people who matter in news, and the ability to write news stories and report events.

Assistant News Editor / Editorial Assistant (Assamese & English)

Essential: a degree from a recognised university, a degree or diploma in journalism, and at least 3 years' experience of work relating to news broadcasting or a news organisation.

Desirable: acquaintance with national and international affairs, and matriculate standard in the relevant language.

Assistant Website Editor

Essential: a degree from a recognised university, and a degree or diploma in journalism or mass communication.

Desirable: 2 years' experience in the relevant field, and exposure to new media operation or proven aptitude in it.

Broadcast Assistant

Essential: a degree from a recognised university, and a degree or diploma in TV and radio production.

Desirable: matriculate standard in the relevant language, and exposure to the audio-visual medium.

Video Editor

Essential: 10+2 from a recognised board, a degree or diploma in film and video editing, and 2 years' experience in the relevant field.

CG Operator

Essential: 10+2 from a recognised board, and a certificate in computer application.

Desirable: one year's experience in the relevant field.

Stenographer (Assamese)

Essential: 10+2 from a recognised board, and a speed of 80 w.p.m. in shorthand and 40 w.p.m. in computer typing.

Age Limit

The lower limit is 21 years for every category except Assistant News Editor, which starts at 25. The upper limit is 40 for the news reader and anchor category and 50 for the rest. The notice states no relaxation and names no cut-off date, so work from the notification date of 24 August 2026 and check your exact age with our age calculator before you post the envelope.

Selection Process

1. Test.
2. Interview.

No TA or DA is paid for appearing at either. Canvassing in any form gets the application rejected.

How to Apply

This is an offline application. There is no online form and no website to register on.

1. Fill in the prescribed format at Annexure A of the notification. The proforma must be submitted — a CV on its own is not accepted, though you may attach a detailed CV alongside it.
2. Attach a recent passport-size photograph.
3. Attach copies of your educational qualification certificates, proof of age, proof of residence and experience certificate.
4. Write the heading on the envelope: "Empanelment of ______ (name of the position) for RNU, DDK, Guwahati".
5. Post it to the RNU Head, Doordarshan Kendra, R.G. Baruah Road, Guwahati-781024.
6. Send it within one month of the notification being published on the website.

Applications without the required enclosures are summarily rejected, and the notice says no further correspondence will be entertained. Important Dates

The notice fixes the deadline to the website publication date rather than to a calendar date. Treat 24 September 2026 as the outside limit and post well before it, and confirm the date on the notification itself.
