Eligibility

Each category sets its own essential qualification. Meeting one does not make you eligible for another, and an application without the enclosures to prove it is rejected outright.

Casual News Reader / News Anchor (Assamese & English)

Essential: a degree from a recognised university; proficiency in the language concerned; a camera-friendly face and a voice of very good quality suited to broadcasting; correct pronunciation, accent and modulation; knowledge of current regional, Indian and foreign affairs; and acquaintance with the names of important personalities in the region, India and abroad.

Preferable: a journalism background, a professional background in academic or related areas, and experience in television or radio media.

Desirable: knowledge of English and Hindi, the ability to interview people who matter in news, and the ability to write news stories and report events.

Assistant News Editor / Editorial Assistant (Assamese & English)

Essential: a degree from a recognised university, a degree or diploma in journalism, and at least 3 years' experience of work relating to news broadcasting or a news organisation.

Desirable: acquaintance with national and international affairs, and matriculate standard in the relevant language.

Assistant Website Editor

Essential: a degree from a recognised university, and a degree or diploma in journalism or mass communication.

Desirable: 2 years' experience in the relevant field, and exposure to new media operation or proven aptitude in it.

Broadcast Assistant

Essential: a degree from a recognised university, and a degree or diploma in TV and radio production.

Desirable: matriculate standard in the relevant language, and exposure to the audio-visual medium.

Video Editor

Essential: 10+2 from a recognised board, a degree or diploma in film and video editing, and 2 years' experience in the relevant field.

CG Operator

Essential: 10+2 from a recognised board, and a certificate in computer application.

Desirable: one year's experience in the relevant field.

Stenographer (Assamese)

Essential: 10+2 from a recognised board, and a speed of 80 w.p.m. in shorthand and 40 w.p.m. in computer typing.

Age Limit

The lower limit is 21 years for every category except Assistant News Editor, which starts at 25. The upper limit is 40 for the news reader and anchor category and 50 for the rest. The notice states no relaxation and names no cut-off date, so work from the notification date of 24 August 2026 and check your exact age with our age calculator before you post the envelope.

No TA or DA is paid for appearing at either. Canvassing in any form gets the application rejected.

  6. Send it within one month of the notification being published on the website.
