Assam VFA Recruitment 2026 Notification

The Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Assam has issued Advertisement No. E-543943/72 dated 29 August 2026, inviting online applications for 200 posts of Veterinary Field Assistant and its allied cadre posts. The recruitment follows Government of Assam approval letter No. E-837098/34 dated 26 August 2026.

Applications are invited from Indian citizens as defined under Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution, and the candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam. Posts will be filled against existing vacancies in each category as per the Post Based Roster Register. The directorate is at Chenikuthi, Guwahati-03.

Assam VFA Recruitment 2026 Vacancy Details

All 200 posts, split by category. Of the total, 60 posts are reserved for women across categories.

Posts reserved for PwBD and Ex-Servicemen

To apply under PwBD, a candidate must have a benchmark disability of 40% or more with a certificate from the competent authority. Ex-Servicemen must upload the Ex-Servicemen Identity Card issued by the Zila Sainik Welfare Office of Assam, along with the Discharge Book.

Assam VFA Recruitment 2026 Salary

Selected candidates are placed in Pay Band-2, Rs 14,000 to Rs 70,000, with Grade Pay of Rs 6,200, plus other allowances admissible from time to time.

One thing to know before joining: government servants joining state service on or after 01/02/2005 are not covered by the Assam Services (Pension) Rules, 1969. They come under the National Pension System, the contributory scheme in line with the Government of India pattern.

Educational Qualification

A candidate must have passed the full-time HSSLC (Class 12) examination in the Science stream with Biology as one of the subjects, from a recognised Board, Council or University. The notice specifies full-time, so the qualification must not be through a distance or private mode.

Age Limit

Not less than 18 years and not more than 40 years as on 01/01/2026, per Government Office Memorandum No. ABP.6/2016/51 dated 2 September 2020.

Age is calculated only from the HSLC Pass Certificate, HSLC Admit Card, or a certificate from a recognised Board or Council where the date of birth is clearly shown. No other document is accepted as age proof.

Other requirements

• Indian citizen and permanent resident of Assam, proved by a valid Permanent Residence Certificate issued in Assam for educational purposes.
• A valid Employment Exchange Registration Certificate.
• Declaration of Small Family Norms in the prescribed Form-A.
• Caste certificate issued by the Government of Assam, for those claiming SC, ST, OBC or MOBC reservation.

Assam VFA Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Selection is in two stages: a written test, then a mandatory one-year training.

1. OMR based written test

An OMR based written test of 100 marks, 100 questions, 120 minutes, at Class 12 standard.

Questions are HSSLC (Science) level MCQs. Biology carries 40 of the 100 marks — nearly double any other subject — so that is where preparation time is best spent.

The date and venue of the written test will be notified later. Eligible candidates download the admit card when notified, and must carry photo ID — PAN card, driving licence, passport, Aadhaar, a current institute ID or voter ID — to the test. No TA or DA is paid for attending.

2. Mandatory one-year training

Selected candidates undergo a one-year training in Elementary Knowledge of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science at the School of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Assam, Ghungoor, Silchar, or its extended campuses. The training must be passed before appointment.

A candidate who fails a subject may sit a re-examination. In total a candidate gets three chances to qualify; failing all three means no appointment. Before starting the training, the candidate executes a bond in the form given in Schedule-III of the Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Subordinate Service Rules (Amendment) Rules, 2026.

1. Go to the official website animalhusbandry.assam.gov.in. The application link is live from 10:00 hrs on 3 September 2026 to 23:59 hrs on 23 September 2026.
2. Fill the online application form. Give your full address with PIN code, a valid email address and an active mobile number — the department uses these to tell you your application status.
3. Upload the scanned documents listed below, in PDF, each file under 4 MB, legible in print and scanned at 200 dpi in greyscale.
4. Upload the photograph and signature to the exact specifications given below.
5. There is no application fee for any category.
6. Check everything, then submit. Download the registration slip with your Registration or Enrolment ID, and print the submitted form.

No manual application form is accepted. Once submitted, there is no editing, correction or resubmission — so check every field before you press submit. Incomplete applications are summarily rejected, and withdrawal after submission is not entertained.

This is a strong opening for a Class 12 Science pass in Assam: 200 posts, no application fee, and a Grade Pay of Rs 6,200. The eligibility bar is a Class 12 Science pass with Biology, which puts it within reach of a far larger group than most state vacancies.

Two things deserve thought before applying. The appointment is not immediate — a one-year training at Silchar must be passed first, with a bond signed before it starts, and appointment follows only on passing. And the age bar is calculated as on 1 January 2026 strictly from HSLC documents, so check that date carefully rather than assuming.

Warnings the notice makes plainly: fake documents or misrepresentation lead to rejection at any stage and to criminal proceedings, and canvassing directly or indirectly disqualifies a candidate.
