PFRDA Officer Grade A Recruitment 2026 Notification

PFRDA released the advertisement for Officer Grade 'A' (Assistant Manager) 2026 on 3 September 2026. The authority is the statutory regulator for the National Pension System and the Atal Pension Yojana, set up under the PFRDA Act, 2013, and it regulates the pension savings of crores of subscribers across India.

Officer Grade A is the entry-level officer post at the regulator. It is a permanent, full-time role, and it is one of the better-paid regulatory-body openings a candidate from Assam can apply for this year — comparable in pay and standing to RBI Grade B or SEBI Grade A, with a much smaller field of applicants because only 30 seats are on offer.

The written examination is conducted for PFRDA by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, which is why the application portal sits on an IBPS domain rather than on the PFRDA website. That catches people out — see the how-to-apply section below before you click anything.

PFRDA Grade A Vacancy Details 2026

The 30 vacancies are split across four streams. The General stream carries the overwhelming majority at 25 posts; the specialist streams are small.

Read the stream columns carefully before you choose. The Research and Actuary streams have two posts each and the Rajbhasha stream has one, and the reserved seats in those streams are tied to a single category — a General-category candidate cannot apply against the lone Rajbhasha OBC seat. For most readers the General stream, with 25 posts and seats in every category, is the realistic route.

PFRDA Grade A Salary 2026

The post carries a starting basic pay of Rs 62,500 a month. With Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and the other allowances the authority pays, initial gross monthly emoluments come to roughly Rs 2,05,000, with in-hand pay in the region of Rs 1,51,000 to Rs 1,60,000 depending on your posting and tax deductions.

That is a genuinely high entry salary for a first government job, and it is the main reason this recruitment draws a strong field despite the small vacancy count. Officers are appointed on or after 2004 and so come under the National Pension System — which the authority itself regulates.

Age Limit

The maximum age is 30 years as on 31 July 2026. In practice that means you must have been born on or after 1 August 1996.

Age is the first thing to settle, because 30 years is a tighter ceiling than most central government recruitment. Educational Qualification

The requirement depends on the stream you apply under.

Note what the General stream accepts: a Master's in any subject qualifies, and so does a plain LLB or BE/BTech. A large number of graduates from Assam are eligible for this post without holding a finance degree at all — the stream-specific paper tests finance and management knowledge, but the eligibility bar does not require a finance background.

The fee is paid online during the application. The exemption for women candidates applies across all categories, which is worth knowing — a General-category woman candidate pays nothing.

PFRDA Grade A Selection Process 2026

Selection runs in three stages: a Phase 1 screening test, a Phase 2 main examination, and an interview.

Phase 1 — 15 October 2026

Phase 1 is a qualifying screen. Marks scored here do not carry into the final merit list — they only decide who is called for Phase 2.

Phase 2 — 20 November 2026

Paper 1 of Phase 2 is a descriptive English test — essay, précis and comprehension style writing, not multiple choice. Paper 2 carries a negative marking of one-fourth of the marks for each wrong answer, so guessing costs you. Within Phase 2, Paper 1 carries one-third weightage and Paper 2 two-thirds.

Interview

Candidates who clear Phase 2 are called for interview. The final merit list is built on 85 per cent weightage to Phase 2 and 15 per cent to the interview.

The practical reading of that split: Phase 2 decides this recruitment. An interview cannot rescue a weak Phase 2 score, and the descriptive English paper is where most candidates lose ground, because it is a skill that cannot be revised into place in the last week. Apply only through the IBPS portal linked from the official PFRDA advertisement. The application URL for this recruitment is ibpsreg.ibps.in/pfrdajul26. Aggregator sites circulating "Apply Online" buttons for this vacancy have pointed elsewhere; open the notification on pfrda.org.in and follow the link from there if you have any doubt.

1. Open the application portal and complete the new registration to get your provisional registration number and password.
2. Fill in your personal details, choose your stream, and enter your qualification exactly as it appears on your certificates.
3. Upload the photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration in the sizes the portal specifies.
4. Pay the fee of Rs 1,000 online, unless you are exempt.
5. Submit, then save and print the completed application for your records.

The uploads are where most applications stall. The portal enforces strict dimensions and file sizes for the photograph and signature, and rejects anything outside them. PFRDA Grade A 2026 — What to Weigh Before Applying

The case for applying is straightforward. Thirty posts is a small field by central recruitment standards, the entry pay of roughly Rs 2.05 lakh gross is at the top of what a first government job pays, and the General stream's eligibility bar — a Master's in any discipline, or LLB, or BE/BTech — is wide enough that a great many Assam graduates qualify without a finance background.

The case against is the age ceiling and the calendar. Thirty years as on 31 July 2026 rules out a lot of candidates who would clear the qualification test, and there is no relaxation beyond the standard category relaxations. The exam schedule is also fast: Phase 1 on 15 October leaves about six weeks from the closing date, and Phase 2 follows five weeks after that. If you are already preparing for RBI Grade B or SEBI Grade A, the syllabus overlap makes this a natural additional attempt. If you are starting cold, six weeks is a tight run at a paper that includes stream-specific finance and regulation.

Whatever you decide, apply before 24 September rather than on it. Fee payment and document upload both fail more often in the final two days, when the portal is under load.
