NHM Assam Compulsory Rural Posting 2026: MBBS Doctors, Apply by 14 September

This NHM Assam recruitment 2026 notification covers the posting every MBBS graduate from an Assam medical college goes through after internship. If you are finishing your compulsory rotating internship by September 2026, this notice is for you. If you have already served or are currently engaged as an MO (MBBS) on the one-year rural posting under NHM Assam, you are not eligible and should not apply.

The notice does not announce a vacancy count. NHM Assam runs this posting as an intake of the doctors who qualify in a given cycle rather than against a fixed number of sanctioned seats, so treat any specific "number of posts" figure you see elsewhere with suspicion unless NHM itself publishes it. Placement is decided later, through a merit list and online counselling.

Who can apply

The eligibility in the notice is narrow and worth reading literally. You must hold an MBBS degree from a Government recognised medical college of Assam, and you must be registered with the Assam Medical Council (AMC). Both conditions have to be true — a degree from outside Assam, or an Assam degree without AMC registration, does not meet the notice as written.

On top of the degree, the notice is addressed to doctors who will be completing their compulsory rotating internship by September 2026. That timing is the real filter this cycle. If your internship finishes after September 2026, you are looking at a later round, not this one.

The exclusion is equally plain: doctors who have already completed the one-year compulsory rural posting under NHM Assam, or who are engaged in it right now as an MO (MBBS), must not apply.

The notice sets no age limit and mentions no application fee. If a later corrigendum adds either, NHM will publish it in the Recruitment section of its website. Salary and remuneration

Rs. 38,500 per month, fixed, as stated in the notice. This is a contractual engagement under NHM for one year, not a regular state government appointment, so the figure is a consolidated monthly remuneration rather than a pay-matrix salary with allowances stacked on top.

Documents you need to upload

The application module asks for your academic record in PDF form, and this is where most applicants lose time. You need to upload, clearly legible:

• 1st MBBS marksheet
• 2nd MBBS marksheet
• Final MBBS Part 1 marksheet
• Final MBBS Part 2 marksheet
• Internship completion certificate

Every document must be readable after upload — a dark phone photo of a marksheet is the most common reason a file gets rejected on review. If your marksheets are photographs rather than scans, convert them first with our image to PDF tool, which will also let you merge several pages into one file. The portal specifically tells applicants with incomplete academic records to merge all marksheets into a single document, so a merge step is expected, not a workaround.

If a scan comes out too large for the upload limit, run it through the PDF compressor before trying again, and use resize image for a photograph or signature that has to fit a fixed pixel size. Compress only as far as the text stays sharp; an unreadable file is treated as a missing one.

2. Open the online recruitment module for MO-MBBS 1 Year Compulsory Rural Posting.
3. If you have not applied on this portal before, use the "New user, click here to register" link to create your login. Existing users sign in directly.
4. Fill in the application form with your personal, academic and AMC registration details.
5. Upload the five PDF documents listed above, each one clearly visible.
6. Review every field, then submit and save a copy of the acknowledgement for your records.

Do not leave this to the afternoon of 14 September. The window shuts at 2 PM, not at midnight, and a government portal in the final hours of a medical recruitment is exactly when uploads start timing out.

The notice carries an unusually direct warning, and it is worth repeating: fill the online application very carefully, because a wrong entry may not get a chance for rectification. There is no assurance of a correction window. Check your name spelling, registration number and marksheet uploads before you submit rather than after.

NHM Assam recruitment 2026 selection process

There is no written examination for this posting. Selection runs in two stages:

1. Publication of a merit list — NHM Assam draws up the merit list from the applications received.
2. Online counselling — placement to a rural posting is then decided through online counselling.

The dates for both the merit list and the counselling have not been announced. The notice says they will be notified subsequently on the NHM Assam website in the Recruitment section, so keep checking there after the 14 September close.
