LGB Regional Institute of Mental Health, Tezpur — an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India — has invited applications from Indian citizens for the post of Senior Resident in various departments, under Advertisement No. 04/2026 (No. LGB/Estt/Interview/SR/01/248-V/4970) dated 27 August 2026.

The interview is conducted in hybrid mode, online and offline, on 15 September 2026. This is a walk-in interview, not a written examination — so the whole process turns on the interview day and the documents you bring to it.

Within these, one Psychiatry post is reserved for PwBD candidates of the 3rd category (OA, OL, BL, OAL, LC, DW, AAV), and the Pathology post is reserved for PwBD of the 2nd category (D, HH).

Academic qualification

An MBBS degree and a PG Degree or Diploma (MD, MS, DNB or Diploma) in the concerned specialty, from a recognised Institution or University.

Registration

Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or a State Medical Council such as the Assam Medical Council.

DNB candidates must produce a verification certificate from NBE, as required by Gazette notification No. MCI-12(2)/2010-Med.Misc dated 11 June 2012. Arrange this in advance — it is not something that can be produced on the interview day at short notice.

Age

LGBRIMH Senior Resident Salary 2026

Level-11 of the Pay Matrix, with an entry pay of Rs 67,700 per month, plus Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) and other admissible allowances as per Central Government rules.

With NPA on top of the basic, this is a strong package for a Senior Resident post, and it is a central government scale rather than a state one.

LGBRIMH Senior Resident Tenure

The tenure is 3 years in total, including any service already rendered as a Senior Resident on an ad-hoc or regular basis in any Government of India or State Government hospital or institution.

The appointment is initially for one year, extendable up to the total of 3 years on a renewal basis, subject to a satisfactory work and conduct report.

If you have already served as a Senior Resident elsewhere, that time counts against the three years — so check how much tenure you have left before applying.

3. Attend the interview on 15 September 2026. Offline walk-in candidates report between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM at the MS Conference Hall, Administrative Building, LGBRIMH, Tezpur. The interview begins at 10:30 AM.
4. Bring all original documents for verification on the interview day.

• MBBS and MD/DNB/Diploma certificates and marksheets
• Medical council registration
• NBE verification certificate, for DNB holders
• Caste or PwBD certificate, where a reserved post is claimed
• No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the competent authority, for candidates already employed in State or Central Government, a PSU or an autonomous body

The NOC requirement catches out serving doctors most often. If you are already in government service, start the NOC process now — it cannot be arranged on the interview morning.
