Three of the five jobs the National Institute of Design (NID) Assam has advertised in Jorhat are reserved for OBC candidates, so General category applicants are competing for two. The Senior Assistant (Finance and Accounts) form closes on 15 November 2026 and the four design and textile instructor forms a day later, on 16 November, all on the institute’s Samarth recruitment portal. Every post has an upper age limit of 35.
NID Assam Recruitment 2026: 5 Posts in Jorhat, 3 Reserved for OBC
The Senior Assistant post has been advertised before. NID’s careers page still lists an earlier notice for it, dated 25 May 2026, and the new one says anyone who applied then need not apply again. When we opened nidj.ac.in/careers on 24 October 2026, both current notices had their own Apply buttons, and the Samarth login page asked first-time users to sign up with an email address and a captcha. More openings are on our latest jobs page.

| Associate Senior Design Instructor | Industrial Design | 1 (OBC) | Level 7 | ₹93,000 a month | 16 Nov |

| Technical Instructor | Textile and Apparel Design | 1 (UR) | Level 6 | ₹74,000 a month | 16 Nov |
The technical notice doesn’t say which of the two Design Instructor disciplines carries the OBC seat. Level 6 is the ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400 pay band and Level 7 is ₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400. The gross figures are NID’s own estimates.
Senior Assistant: B.Com and Not Over 35
You need a bachelor’s degree in commerce or an equivalent and working computer skills. Finance and accounts experience in a government or educational institution is desirable, not required. Age is counted on 15 November 2026, so you must have been born on or after 16 November 1990, before any relaxation. OBC candidates get the age relaxation allowed under central government rules. Check your exact age with the age calculator.
The OBC seat needs a certificate in the Government of India format, which means your caste must be on the central OBC list. Our caste certificate guide explains how to get one in Assam.
Instructor Posts: Diploma and Four Years, or Degree and Two
Associate Senior Design Instructor (Industrial Design): a B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Des in Industrial Design or BFA (Ceramic or Sculpture) with four years’ experience after the degree, or a diploma in civil, mechanical, architecture, electronics or an allied field with six years. The work covers CAD modelling and rendering, design thinking and UX, and running 3D printers, laser cutters and vacuum forming machines.
Design Instructor: a three-year diploma with four years’ experience, or a degree with two. For Communication Design the subject can be multimedia, 2D or 3D animation, digital media, visual communication, applied art or fine art, and the notice lists tools from Photoshop and Premiere Pro to Blender and Figma. For Textile and Apparel Design it is a degree or diploma in textile design, with experience in weaving, loom preparation, dyeing and printing and traditional crafts. People who have worked in Assam’s handloom sector have a real case for this one.
Technical Instructor (Textile and Apparel Design): a BFTech degree or a diploma in fashion technology, with the same four-years-or-two rule. The job is pattern making, grading, sampling and running industrial sewing machines.
A postgraduate degree is desirable for all three. Only experience gained after your qualification counts, and work done while you were a full-time student doesn’t count at all. Each experience certificate must show your designation, the work you did, the dates, your pay and whether the job was regular or contractual. Age for these posts is counted on 16 November 2026, so the birth date limit is 17 November 1990.
Applying on the Samarth Portal
- Open the careers page at nidj.ac.in/careers and click Apply beside the notice, or go straight to the Samarth portal and sign up with your email and mobile number.
- Fill in your details, qualifications and experience, and upload self-attested scans of your certificates. The compress PDF tool helps if a scan is too large to upload.
- Pay the fee online: ₹500 for General and OBC, ₹250 for SC, ST and EWS. Candidates with a disability pay nothing.
- Download the submitted form and keep it.
You can apply for more than one technical post, but each needs its own application. If you work for a government body or PSU, apply through proper channel or upload a no objection certificate from your employer, and bring the original before the selection test. NID may hold a written test and a trade test, and the shortlist goes up only on its website. No travel allowance is paid for the written or trade test.
