The 200 generalist posts split as 80 unreserved, 55 OBC, 30 SC, 20 EWS and 15 ST. You can apply in one discipline only. If you register twice, only the latest complete form counts and the fee on the others is lost.

60% Means 60, Not 59.99

Every discipline needs 60% in the degree (55% for SC, ST and PwBD), and the notice ignores fractions, so 59.99% fails. The percentage is your total marks across every subject in every semester or year, divided by the maximum, including honours and optional papers. If your university gives a CGPA, you need a certificate from it showing how that converts to a percentage. Your result must be out by 1 October 2026.

Born 2 October 1996 to 1 October 2005

That is the 21 to 30 range on 1 October 2026, as the notice states it. SC and ST applicants get 5 years more, OBC (non-creamy layer) 3, and PwBD 10 to 15 depending on category. Use the age calculator if you’re close. OBC applicants in the creamy layer apply as unreserved.

Prelims, Mains, Then an Interview

The prelims is 100 marks in 60 minutes: English (30 questions), Reasoning (35) and Quantitative Aptitude (35), each with its own 20-minute timer and its own pass mark. About 15 candidates per vacancy go through to the mains.

The mains is an objective test of 250 marks over three hours, followed straight away by a 30-minute descriptive English test (essay, précis and comprehension) that you type. Generalists get five sections of 50 marks each: reasoning, general awareness, quantitative aptitude, English and computer knowledge. Specialists get those five at 40 marks each plus a 50-mark test in their own field. The descriptive test only has to be passed, and wrong answers in both objective papers cost marks. The final list weighs the mains at 80 and the interview at 20.

The Four-Year Bond

Before joining, you sign an undertaking to serve at least four years, including the one-year probation. Leave early and you owe a year’s gross salary, backed by a bond signed by two sureties who aren’t blood relatives. Quit during probation and you repay everything you were paid, plus ₹25,000 for training. Postings can be anywhere in India, with at least five years at the first one, and specialists may be kept in their field for ten. For someone hoping to stay near home, the five years matter more than the pay.

₹1,000 Fee and Four Uploads

The fee is ₹1,000, or ₹250 for SC, ST and PwBD applicants, paid online by 28 October. You upload a photo (20 to 50 KB), a signature (10 to 20 KB), a left thumb impression (20 to 50 KB) and a declaration handwritten in English (50 to 100 KB), all as JPGs. A signature or declaration written in capital letters is rejected. The image compressor will help with the 20 KB signature limit.

The IBPS registration page for this recruitment opened for me on 17 October. Its web address ends in “niiclsep26” even though registration began on 8 October, so don’t take that as a sign you’re on an old form.
