Assam Veterinary Officer Vacancy 2026

This is a departmental recruitment for the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, routed through APSC as the state recruiting authority. Advertisement No. 11/2026, eCF No. 819767/96, was issued at Guwahati on 3 August 2026 against 137 posts in the cadre.

The Veterinary Officer and Block Veterinary Officer roles sit at the field end of the department, covering animal health services across the districts. Reservation follows the draft advertisement furnished by the Government against the total posts in the cadre.

Assam VO/BVO Post Distribution 2026

Separately, 4 posts carry PwBD reservation — one each for blindness and low vision, deaf and hard of hearing, locomotor disability, and autism — and 2 posts are reserved for Ex-Servicemen. Ex-Servicemen must upload the identity card issued by the Zila Sainik Welfare Office of Assam together with the Discharge Book.

Nearly a third of the cadre, 41 of 137 posts, is reserved for women across all categories.

Who Can Apply

Degree requirement

The single essential qualification is a Degree in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science from a recognised University or Institution. Semester or year-wise mark sheets showing the subjects, plus the final pass certificate, must be uploaded.

Age and relaxation

Between 21 and 38 years as on 1 January 2026.

Age is proved only by the Class X or Class XII admit card, pass certificate or marksheet showing the date of birth. Nothing else is accepted in its place. Our age calculator gives your exact age on the cut-off date.

Domicile and other conditions

• Indian citizen under Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution and a permanent resident of Assam. Either a Permanent Resident Certificate issued in Assam for educational purposes or an Employment Exchange Registration Certificate proves residency.
• PwBD applicants need a benchmark disability of 40% or above, certified by the competent authority.
• Government servants must attach an employment certificate, and an NOC where pay protection or continuity of service is sought.
• A Small Family Norms declaration in Form-A is required at the time of applying.

Fees for Assam VO/BVO 2026

Even a fully exempt candidate pays the Rs 47.20 CSC-SPV processing charge. Category relaxation requires a certificate from the competent authority. Applications without the prescribed fee are rejected outright, and no representation against that rejection is entertained. Fees are never refunded or carried to another selection.

The fee window closes on 8 September 2026, two days after the application deadline.

Applying Through the APSC Portal

1. Open apscrecruitment.in. Applications are accepted through no other route.
2. New applicants complete the One-Time Registration first, using an email address and mobile number that stay active.
3. Log in and complete the post-specific form. Fields marked with an asterisk are compulsory.
4. Attach documents as PDFs, each within 4 MB, readable in print, scanned at 200 dpi greyscale.
5. Attach a photograph taken within the last three months and a signature, each 50 KB to 200 KB.
6. Use the Preview screen, then submit by 6 September 2026 and pay by 8 September 2026.

The OTR profile supplies your age, caste and qualification certificates to the application, so bring that profile up to date before starting. The form cannot be edited once submitted, which makes the Preview step the last chance to catch an error.

How Candidates Are Selected

A screening or written examination comes first, followed by a viva-voce or interview. Photo identity — PAN card, driving licence, passport, institutional ID, voter ID or Aadhaar — must be carried to both stages.

Eligibility is judged as on the closing date for applications. The Commission pays no travel or other expenses for interview attendance. Selected candidates must be in sound bodily health and undergo any medical examination the Government requires.

Is This Worth Applying For

For a veterinary graduate in Assam, this is the principal route into state service, and 137 posts in one advertisement is a large intake for a single professional qualification. Pay Band 4 with Grade Pay of Rs 12,700 places it well above the ordinary run of state vacancies.

The field is narrow by design — only holders of a veterinary science degree can apply — so the competition is far smaller than the raw applicant numbers of a general graduate post. Women candidates should note that 41 posts are set aside for them.

The one procedural risk is the OTR profile. Because certificates are pulled from it rather than uploaded fresh, an out-of-date profile can quietly cost an application. Check it before the form opens.
