APSC Research Assistant Recruitment 2026 Notification

The Assam Public Service Commission has issued Advertisement No. 12/2026, eCF No. 821483/39, dated Guwahati the 4 August 2026, inviting applications for one post of Research Assistant under the Labour Welfare Department, Government of Assam.

The post is in the open category, with no reservation for OBC/MOBC, SC, STP, STH, PwBD or Ex-Servicemen. Applications are invited from Indian citizens as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution, and the candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.

This is a single-post advertisement, so competition will be sharp. It is worth applying only if you meet the qualification cleanly — but the qualification bar is low relative to the pay, which is what makes it worth a look.

Educational Qualification

A minimum of a second class Bachelor's degree in Arts, Science or Commerce from any recognised University. Upload the mark sheets of all semesters or years reflecting the subjects, along with the final pass certificate.

Preferable experience

Not required, but counted in your favour:

• A Diploma in Computer Application.
• Experience dealing with Labour Laws in a Government Department or organisation.
• Or a Degree or Diploma in Labour Laws or Social Work.

These are listed as preferable rather than essential, so a plain graduate is eligible to apply. If you hold any of them, upload the supporting certificates.

Age Limit

Not less than 21 years and not more than 38 years as on 01-01-2026.

PwBD relaxation is 10 years irrespective of category. Note, though, that no post is reserved for PwBD here — PwBD candidates compete with everyone else without reservation, though they keep the age relaxation and the fee concession.

Other requirements

• Domicile proof: a valid Permanent Resident Certificate issued in Assam for educational purposes, or an Employment Exchange Registration Certificate.
• PwBD candidates must have a benchmark disability of 40% or more.
• Serving Assam Government employees must upload an employment certificate, and an NOC if seeking pay protection or continuation in service.
• A declaration on Small Family Norms in Form-A.

APSC Research Assistant Recruitment 2026 Application Fee

The Rs 47.20 processing fee is charged by CSC-SPV and applies to every candidate. To claim the relaxation you must produce a category certificate from the competent authority. The last date for fee payment is 12 September 2026, two days after applications close.

An application without the prescribed fee is summarily rejected, with no representation entertained, and fees once paid are never refunded.

1. Go to the APSC recruitment portal at apscrecruitment.in. No other mode of application is accepted.
2. If you have not registered before, click Register Here and complete the One-Time Registration (OTR). Use a valid, active email address and mobile number.
3. Log in and fill in the application form. Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk.
4. Upload documents in PDF format, each under 4 MB, legible in print, scanned at 200 dpi in greyscale.
5. Upload a recent photograph (50 KB – 200 KB, not older than 3 months) and your signature (50 KB – 200 KB).
6. Tick the declaration checkbox to enable Preview, check everything, then submit before 10 September 2026.
7. Pay the fee by 12 September 2026.

No editing is allowed after final submission. Certificates for age, caste and minimum educational qualification are fetched from your OTR profile, so update that profile before you start if any additional document is needed.

APSC Research Assistant Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Selection is through a screening or written examination followed by a viva-voce or interview. Carry photo identity — PAN card, driving licence, passport, a current institutional ID, voter ID or Aadhaar — to the test and the interview.

Eligibility is determined as on the closing date for online applications. APSC does not pay travelling expenses for candidates called to interview, and selected candidates must be in sound bodily health and undergo a medical examination if required.

One post, open category, and a plain second class degree in any of Arts, Science or Commerce is enough to apply. That combination means a very large eligible pool for a single vacancy, so be realistic about the odds — but the cost of applying is low and the pay band is high for the qualification asked.

The preferable experience is where an application is actually won. A Diploma in Computer Application, or a degree or diploma in Labour Laws or Social Work, or Government experience with labour law subjects — any of these separates a candidate from the field.
