The NFR Sports Quota Result 2026 for cricket and basketball is out. Northeast Frontier Railway published it on 30 September 2026, and it names 14 sportspersons who are provisionally empanelled after the trials held in Guwahati on 21 and 22 September. This post is for anyone who applied in these two games under Employment Notification No. 04/2026. If you applied for kabaddi, football, boxing or any other discipline, your result is not in this list. Those trials ran from 23 September to 1 October, and NFR publishes each result as a separate order.

What the Cricket and Basketball Result Says
The result is a two-page order, No. E/227/Rectt./Sports/2026-27, signed by the Senior Personnel Officer/Recruitment at Maligaon. It lists seven names at Level-1 (Grade Pay ₹1,800) and seven at Level-2/3 (Grade Pay ₹1,900/₹2,000). At Level-1 there are four cricketers and three basketball players. At Level-2/3 it is the other way round: three cricketers, four basketball players. Eight of the 14 are men and six are women.
The word that matters is "provisionally". This panel is not an appointment letter. NFR says the post and unit will be allotted later, and that appointment depends on three things: vacancies being available, medical fitness, and verification of your sports and educational certificates with the bodies that issued them. The order also says the panel gives no right to a railway job, and that NFR can correct any error or typing mistake in it.

The selection list below is copied from the official order, with its spellings. One differs from the earlier eligible list: the result has "Karan Choudhury", the eligible list "Karan Choudhary". If a spelling here does not match your certificates, sort it out before document verification.

The order gives no roll or application numbers, so match by name, game and position.
How Many Seats Were Filled
Northeast Frontier Railway advertised 56 sports quota posts across 13 games in EN 04/2026. Fifteen were in cricket and basketball: seven at Level-2/3 and eight at Level-1. The result fills all seven Level-2/3 seats and seven of the eight Level-1 seats. The one missing is the Level-1 basketball seat for a woman Post Player. The order does not say whether it will be filled later.
The competition was stiff. The eligible list of 11 September had 113 names, 52 in basketball and 61 in cricket, and two more basketball players were added on 15 September after their representations were accepted. That is roughly eight eligible candidates for every seat.
How Candidates Were Marked
The notification sets out a 100-mark scheme. The trial committee marks you out of 40 first. Score below 25 and you are declared Not Fit and go no further. Fit candidates are then interviewed by the recruitment committee, which adds marks for sports achievements and education.

To be recruited you needed at least 65 marks at Level-2 or Level-3 and 60 at Level-1. When two players tie, the younger one ranks higher. Only achievements in recognised events held on or after 1 April 2024 counted. There is no community reservation in sports quota recruitment, but SC, ST, OBC-NCL and EWS candidates still had to upload certificates in the prescribed format.
Next Steps After Empanelment
NFR has not given dates for what comes next. The notification and the result together say this much:
- A medical examination against the norms for the post you are given.
- Verification of your sports and educational certificates with the issuing authorities.
- A posting at NFR headquarters or one of five divisions: Alipurduar, Katihar, Rangiya, Lumding or Tinsukia, depending on sports needs and vacancies.
- Two years of probation, and a service bond to serve Indian Railways for at least five years.
Four people on this panel had a pending document flagged on the eligible list. Upendra Kumar Yadav, Amontika Munda and Garima Yadav were asked for an OBC-NCL certificate issued after 1 April 2026, and Gurmanbir Singh for a Class 12 certificate. If that is you, get the document ready now. The notification treats an OBC-NCL certificate more than a year old as invalid. The order tells empanelled candidates to watch their email and the official NFR website for updates. Nobody else can speed up a posting. Treat any call or message promising one as a scam, and check notices only on the official recruitment websites.
