NRL Vacancy 2026: Posts and Pay

NRL put out two advertisements with the same application window. Some job sites report 4 posts, but the notices add up to 3. Advt. No. 11/2026 has a single Commercial System post that NRL will fill at either Associate or Sr. Associate level, depending on the selected candidate's profile. It is not one post at each level.

The pay is an all-inclusive lump sum. Income tax is deducted at source, and there is no increment during the contract. All three posts are at Numaligarh. The notices mention that NRL is expanding the refinery from 3 to 9 million tonnes a year and building a polypropylene plant there. The contract can end early if the assignment or project you are hired for finishes.

NRL Associate Eligibility and Qualification

Commercial System: a B.E. or B.Tech plus an MBA or PGDM. Your experience must be in commercial work, procurement, sales, contract, vendor or inventory management, supply chain, finance or operations. At least three years of it must be public procurement and tendering through government e-procurement portals such as NIC, the CPP Portal or GeM, for a government body, a PSU, or an agency running World Bank or ADB-funded projects. Without those three years you do not qualify, however much other commercial experience you have. Hands-on SAP and paperless e-Office experience is desirable.

Mechanical: a B.E. or B.Tech in mechanical engineering, with 5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing industries. A Boiler Operation Engineer (BOE) certificate is desirable.

Both notices say experience gained in apprenticeship training will be counted. Experience is counted only after your qualifying degree.

NRL Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The upper age limit is 42 for the Associate posts and 50 for the Sr. Associate level, counted on 13 October 2026. SC and ST candidates get 5 extra years and OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates get 3. Persons with disabilities get 10 years (general), 13 years (OBC) or 15 years (SC/ST). Reservation follows central government rules. Check your exact age on the closing date with our age calculator.

Contract Terms You Should Know

• Length: up to three years, or until the project ends, whichever is earlier. The Managing Director can extend it by one more year.
• Housing: none. You arrange your own accommodation at Numaligarh.
• Medical: you buy a family mediclaim policy covering yourself, your spouse and up to two children, and NRL reimburses the premium. At the refinery, consultation, tests and surgery at the VKNRL Hospital are free, but you pay for medicines.
• Leave: 24 days a year, earned at 2 a month, with no more than 6 in a month. Unused leave can't be carried forward, but you are paid for it when the contract ends.
• Hours: 48 a week. You may be called in on off days or holidays when work demands it.
• Other: provident fund under EPFO rules, ₹500 a day for incidentals on official tours, and induction plus fire and safety training after joining.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview, in person or online. If you attend in person, Numaligarh Refinery Limited reimburses a 3AC rail fare by the shortest route from the station nearest your present address. If many people apply, NRL may add another interview round, a group discussion or a written test. You need 50% in the interview to be considered (40% for SC and ST). Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee a call. Joining depends on a medical examination, a character and antecedents check, and verification of your documents.

1. Download the CV format from the advertisement page; NRL wants your CV in its own format.
2. Open the NRL application portal. From nrl.co.in the path is Career, then Term Engagement (Contractual Basis), then Current Term Engagement (Contractual) Opportunities.
3. Register with a mobile number and email you will keep. NRL will not let you change them later, and every update comes to them.
4. Upload your CV, a passport photo, proof of date of birth, your degree certificates and, if you claim it, an SC, ST, OBC (NCL), PwD or EWS certificate in the central government format. Our passport photo tool makes the photo, and our PDF compressor shrinks scanned certificates.
5. Submit before 11:59 pm on 13 October 2026. Do not post a hard copy.
