DLSA Dima Hasao PLV Recruitment 2026: 20 Para Legal Volunteers

By AssamJobDesk TeamPublished on

DLSA Dima Hasao PLV Recruitment 2026 is open for 20 Para Legal Volunteers. Applications close at 5 PM on Saturday, 3 October 2026. The District Legal Services Authority, Dima Hasao wants local residents who have passed HSLC to help people in the district reach legal aid. Applications go into a drop box at the District Court Building in Jatinga. This suits teachers, social workers, law and MSW students, anganwadi workers, self-help group members and ex-servicemen in Dima Hasao who can give time to community work. If you need a regular salary, skip it. PLVs get an honorarium, not pay. Salaried openings are under jobs.

Time is short. Friday 2 October is Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, and the last date falls on a Saturday. The notice does not say whether the drop box can be reached on either day. If you can, deposit your application by Thursday, 1 October.

DLSA Dima Hasao PLV Recruitment 2026: Key Facts

  • Authority: District Legal Services Authority, Dima Hasao, Haflong
  • Advertisement: dated 18 September 2026, Memo No. DLSA/DH/2026/921-935
  • Role: Para Legal Volunteer (PLV)
  • Vacancies: 20
  • Qualification: HSLC (Class 10) pass
  • Minimum age: 18 years on 18 September 2026
  • Payment: honorarium fixed by the Assam State Legal Services Authority
  • How to apply: standard form in a sealed envelope, into the drop box at Jatinga
  • Last date: 3 October 2026, 5 PM

You must be an Indian citizen, a local resident, and from one of these groups:

  • Teachers, including retired teachers
  • Retired government servants and senior citizens
  • Students and teachers of Master of Social Work
  • Anganwadi workers
  • Doctors and physicians
  • Students, and law students until they enrol as lawyers
  • Members of non-political, service-oriented NGOs and clubs
  • Members of women's neighbourhood groups, Maithri Sangams and other self-help groups, including marginalised groups
  • Any social worker
  • Ex-servicemen

Two of these categories are wide. "Students" and "any social worker" cover most people who have done some community work. Unlike some other districts' PLV notices, this one does not include a catch-all "anyone the DLSA thinks fit" category, so say clearly on your form which group you belong to.

You also need to have passed HSLC and be at least 18 on 18 September 2026, the date of the advertisement. If you were born around September 2008, check with the age calculator. There is no upper age limit.

The notice also asks for "a capacity for overall comprehension" and a mindset to help the needy with compassion and empathy for weaker sections of society. The interview is where that gets judged.

Who Gets Preference

Point 5 of the notice gives preference to applicants with basic computer skills, driving skills or other relevant skills. Mention them on your form, and attach proof if you have it, such as a computer course certificate or a driving licence. With 20 places and no written test, this may be what separates two similar applicants.

PLV Honorarium, Not Salary

The work carries no salary, remuneration or wage. PLVs get an honorarium "according to their engagement in different capacities", at the amount the Assam State Legal Services Authority fixes under its rules. The notice does not state a figure. That wording suggests the pay depends on the work you are given, not a fixed monthly amount. Selected PLVs must also complete a training programme set by the DLSA.

What PLVs do is much the same in every district: legal awareness, helping people reach free legal aid, and visiting police stations and children's homes. Our DLSA Kokrajhar PLV post lists the duties as that district's notice states them.

How to Apply for DLSA Dima Hasao PLV

The notice asks for the "prescribed Standard Form of Application as published in the Assam Gazette Part-IX". This form is not attached to the advertisement. It is also not on the district judiciary website's forms page, and the notice gives no phone number or email. Ask at the DLSA office in Haflong or at the court building in Jatinga for the copy they accept. Do not use a PLV form from another state or district that you find online.

  1. Fill in the standard form. Write your contact number on it; the notice makes this compulsory.
  2. Attach two passport-size photographs. The passport photo tool can make a print-ready one from a phone photo.
  3. Attach self-attested copies of all relevant documents: your HSLC certificate or admit card for age and qualification, proof that you belong to one of the groups above, and proof of residence in the district. A Permanent Residence Certificate is the usual residence document in Assam.
  4. Put everything in a sealed envelope. On the envelope, write "For the post of Para Legal Volunteer".
  5. Address it to: The District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Dima Hasao, P.O & P.S Haflong, Pin 788819.
  6. Drop it in the box marked "DROP BOX FOR THE POST OF PLV" on the ground floor of the District Court Building at Jatinga.

The envelope is addressed to Haflong, but the drop box is in Jatinga. Go to Jatinga. The notice does not say whether posted applications are accepted, only that they must reach the office by the deadline. With three days left, delivering it by hand is the only safe option. Incomplete applications are rejected without reasons, and nothing is accepted after 5 PM on 3 October.

Selection, Results and the Website

A selection committee shortlists applicants for an interview and selects PLVs under the relevant scheme. Its decisions are final. No TA or DA is paid for attending the interview, and canvassing in any form disqualifies you.

The notice says the list of selected and rejected candidates will be published on "dimahasaojudiciary.gov.in". That address does not open. The Dima Hasao District Judiciary website is dimahasao.dcourts.gov.in, where this advertisement is posted under recruitment notices. Check that site for the interview and result lists. Our guide to official websites for Assam government jobs explains how to tell a real notice from a copy.
