APSC JE Electrical Exam 2026: Test on 1 Nov, Paper II Renamed

By AssamJobDesk TeamPublished on

The APSC JE Electrical Exam 2026 is on Sunday, 1 November 2026. It is the OMR screening test for 53 Junior Engineer (Electrical) posts in the Public Works (Building & NH) Department under Advt. No. 03/2026. On 27 August, the Assam Public Service Commission issued a corrigendum that renames Paper II from "General Knowledge" to "General Studies". Nothing else in the syllabus changes. This update is for you if you applied between 11 May and 10 June 2026. Applications are closed, so if you did not apply, there is nothing to do here.

What the Syllabus Corrigendum Changes

The syllabus went up on the APSC website on 18 May 2026. The corrigendum (No. 42 PSC/CON/Exam-02/2026-2027) says Paper II should be read as "General Studies" instead of "General Knowledge", and that "the other contents of the syllabus shall remain the same". The topics, the marks and the timing are unchanged, so if you have been studying from the May syllabus, keep going. The exam notification dated 25 September already uses the new name.

APSC JE Electrical Exam Date and Timing

Both papers are on the same day, 1 November 2026, each two hours long:

PaperSubjectTime
Paper IElectrical Engineering, 100 questions, 100 marks10:00 am to 12:00 noon
Paper IIGeneral Studies, 100 questions, 100 marks1:30 pm to 3:30 pm

Both papers are multiple choice on OMR sheets. Neither the notification nor the syllabus mentions negative marking. Check the instructions on your admit card and on the question booklet on the day.

Candidate List, Admit Card and Scribe Requests

APSC will not post you an intimation letter. Everything comes through apsc.nic.in:

  • 13 October 2026: the list of candidates is uploaded. Check your name. If it is missing, raise it with APSC at once, not on exam week.
  • 16 October 2026: the last date for candidates with benchmark disabilities to ask for a scribe. Send a written request with supporting documents to the Commission, or email apsc-asm@nic.in.
  • 26 October 2026: the e-Admission Certificate (admit card) is uploaded, and you download it yourself.

Bring a photo ID to the hall: the advertisement lists PAN card, driving licence, passport, voter ID, Aadhaar or a current institutional ID card. Admit cards for other APSC exams are on our admit card page.
